Visual Design- Setting the Standard for Design Leadership
- Visual design (also called Graphic Design) is the cornerstone of great user experience. But it needs to be done right. What is important to creating compelling visual design work that has User Experience considerations baked-in?
Topic:
Is 'eye candy' (good looking design) important? Yes it is...Research shows that you have 50 milliseconds (0.5 sec) to make a good impression on a website (Lindgaard et. al. 2006). Google's research (Tuch et. al. 2012) drops it further to 17 milliseconds (0.017 sec) for certain design elements. This means feelings of trust for a design occur without conscious thought. Good visual design impacts whether users perceive it as easy to use, which has been found to impact their intent to purchase.
Your choice of graphic design, layout, icons, typography and user interface elements are hugely important to perceived ease of use. Many organizations do UX through graphic design or visual designers. However many UX Design efforts deliver great eye candy, but fall short of user engagement, adoption and business goals like customer conversion.
In this webinar we will review the approaches leading User Experience designers and managers take to creating outstanding visual design. We will focus on management of visual design for user experience, with an aim at setting standards for design leadership.
