Course Description: Heuristic evaluations are ‘rules of thumb’ (known issues) used to assess system usability. This Heuristic Evaluation Training delves into heuristic reviews, which involve analyzing UI Rules, UX Laws, and Interaction Design principles. The course applies these heuristics to various interface examples through hands-on activities, addressing your design challenges. You’ll gain the skills to conduct expert reviews, known as heuristic evaluations.

Course Highlights:

  1. The Three Sets of Heuristics: Understand the foundation of heuristic reviews by examining UI Rules, UX Laws, and Interaction Design principles that shape effective user experiences.

  2. Conducting Expert Reviews: Gain hands-on experience conducting heuristic reviews and Cognitive Walkthroughs, improving your ability to evaluate user interfaces critically. We’ll use several sets of heuristics, go deep into assessing for harm (Inclusive Design; AI), and learn how to evaluate for sustainability. 

  3. Prioritizing Insights: Learn how to prioritize findings to gain actionable insights that drive meaningful design enhancements.

  4. Scorecards and Verified Metrics: Develop comprehensive scorecards and use user testing to establish validated metrics, supporting more informed design decisions.
